Renovation a Reality - Opening October 2012!
Yes, you
read it right!
The long-awaited Gompers Park playground renovation is now fully funded
and construction is almost complete.
Thanks to
everyone for sticking with
it
- and staying true to the vision for a dynamic new place for our
children to safely play and our diverse community families to connect. To all who
contributed
to the Grow with Gompers fundraising efforts, whether through donations
$1 or $1000; providing much needed supplies or raffle prizes for
events; volunteering 1 hour or 1000; buying a brick or patting us on
the back when we needed the moral - as well as financial - support.

especially extending appreciation to our dedicated partners who
contributed major public funding to the playground renovation,
collaborating together in a shared commitment to completing this
exciting and necessary improvement to our park and community: Alderman
Laurino, State Representative D'Amico, and the Chicago Park
District.

What is Grow
with Gompers?
A joint initiative of the North Mayfair Improvement Association and the
Gompers Park Advisory Council, Grow with Gompers is a committee of
dedicated area residents working in partnership with the Chicago Park
District to raise funds to redesign and rebuild the aging, out-dated,
unsafe playground at Gompers Park; creating a dynamic new playground
where our children can safely play and our diverse community can
connect. Our vision for the new playground has always gone beyond new
slides and swings. By building a playground, we are building
community!
Grow with Gompers is a committee of the North Mayfair Improvement
Association, a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to improve our park
and community for since 1929. Since 2008, the Grow with Gompers
committee has actively worked towards building a new playground for our
park through our partnership with the Chicago Park District and the
full support of our elected officials, area families and businesses;
organizing creative, community – centered programs and events to raise
awareness and funding for the playground renovation.
Now in October 2012, Grow with Gompers will celebrate the completion of
the new playground and the many contributors who helped create
this new community treasure!
